Track the right indicators
A useful dashboard should show operational indicators that management can act on. Attendance completion, pending fees, exam progress, communication delivery, and admission pipeline status are more useful than decorative charts.
Compare trends across time
Single-day numbers can be misleading. Schools should compare weekly and monthly trends to understand whether attendance, collections, or academic performance is improving or declining.
Use reports for action meetings
Reports should support decisions. A weekly management review can focus on pending attendance, fee follow-up, class-level academic concerns, and parent communication gaps.
- Review exceptions first, not only totals.
- Assign an owner for every follow-up item.
- Use the next meeting to check whether action was completed.
Keep reports easy to read
The best school reports are clear, filterable, and easy to export. If a report requires too much explanation, the data structure or labels may need simplification.
